Water Born
The Ojai Valley is home. It’s a sacred place surrounded by mountains with two roads in and out, one leading directly to Rincon in Carpenteria, CA. On small days Rincon yields a perfect little wave with next to zero crowd. This was our introduction to the ocean, surfing pristine little waves in clear water. From there we went sailing, diving, and hence kiting, and foiling, all of which connected us to the magic of the ocean. We love it, grateful for it, and also concerned for its welfare. We hope Salty Brother is a means to celebrate it and share the good.
dane
A touch older and much quieter than Quinn, Dane is no less restless. Since graduating from UCSD in Speculative Design—where he combined art, photography, videography, and digital design solving yet to be encountered problems—he’s traveled across 5 continents shooting ocean athletes across a wide variety of disciplines. An Olympic Sailing Team member in 2020, Dane’s creativity translates to constant innovation in and on the water. On that same front, there isn’t a piece of gear or a circumstance that Dane hasn’t encountered that somehow he hasn’t redesigned in his head, on paper, or in actual form.
quinn
Quinn’s a graduate of UCSB in Environmental Studies with a “minor” in film, and was awarded All-American for his performance on the UCSB Sailing Team. He’s a storyteller, obsessive competitor, jack of all trades water related, and an expert of some. Quinn rarely sits still. He’s an avid rock climber, mountain biker, and sport enthusiast. He’s toured Baja by motorcycle in the endeavor to “learn something unfamiliar,” climbed Mt. Rainier and the Grand Tetons. There’s little risk he’ll be leaving the ocean behind as no 48 hours pass without his toes getting salty.
